NAHCO Commissions Borehole Projects to Support Communities, Schools
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has commissioned five borehole projects in Lagos and Ondo States, a remarkable demonstration of corporate social responsibility.
In a statement, the company said the initiative aims to enhance access to clean water for communities and institutions in need.
At Ode-Aye in Ondo State, the organisation constructed and donated four solar-powered boreholes to the local community.
Speaking at the commissioning, NAHCO’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr Indranil Gupta, represented by the Assistant General Manager of Corporate Communications, Mr Tayo Ajakaye, underscored the importance of maintenance culture.
He urged the community to take ownership of the facilities to ensure their longevity.
“If we return in a year or two and find these boreholes operational, it would gladden our hearts and encourage us to do even more in other locations,” Gupta said.
He thanked the people of Ode-Aye for giving NAHCO the opportunity to serve, describing the project as one of the ways the organisation supports its global community.
The Halu of Aye Kingdom, HRM Oba William Akinmusayo Akinlade, expressed gratitude to NAHCO for its thoughtful intervention.
He noted that the boreholes would significantly alleviate the challenges faced by the community, especially as the dry season approaches.
“This is a much-anticipated project, and it will bring great relief to our people,” the monarch said.
High Chief Kayode Adebusoye, the Petu of Aye Kingdom, also lauded the organisation and assured them of the community’s prayers for its continued success.
Sir Soji Aguda, the project coordinator, pledged that residents would safeguard the facilities to ensure sustainability.
Meanwhile, NAHCO extended its outreach to the Adebola Creative Comprehensive College in Morogbo, Badagry, Lagos State, by commissioning another borehole project.
Equipped with a 3.5kVA generator, the project aims to provide the school with a reliable water supply and power for its activities.
Speaking at the event, Gupta highlighted the organisation’s commitment to supporting communities and institutions beyond its immediate operational environment.
“We recognise that everyone, at some point, needs help. This initiative is part of our broader effort to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives,” he stated.
The school’s Chief Executive Officer, Prince Adegbehin Adetarami, represented by the Principal, Mrs Mary Adegbehin, praised NAHCO’s generosity.
“With this life-changing gift, NAHCO has not only quenched our thirst for clean water but also illuminated our path to a brighter future with the provision of constant electricity,” Adetarami said.
This initiative exemplifies NAHCO’s dedication to addressing critical needs within its operational areas and beyond, reinforcing its reputation as a socially responsible corporate entity.
