NAMA Achieves ISO 9001:2015 Certification, Commits to Enhancing Airspace Management Standards
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has joined the league of globally recognised organisations certified under the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
This achievement follows a rigorous certification audit conducted by representatives of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The audit, which assessed NAMA’s operations against the stringent clauses of ISO 9001:2015, covered the agency’s activities at five international airports — Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Enugu.
Other critical areas evaluated included the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), Charts and Aeronautical Publications, personnel competencies, working tools, office environment, and documentation processes.
During the certificate presentation at the NAMA headquarters annex in Lagos, the Managing Director, Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk, represented by the Director of Air Traffic Services, Mr John Tayo, described the certification as a pivotal milestone.
He noted that achieving this feat aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS).
“This certification represents yet another landmark achievement by NAMA in its quest to continue raising the bar in air navigation service provision,” said Farouk.
He expressed confidence that the ISO certification would significantly improve customer satisfaction, ensuring that NAMA’s products and services are timely, reliable, and less prone to errors.
Farouk further highlighted NAMA’s commitment to excellence, stating, “For us in NAMA, this certification is a renewed assurance to airlines and other stakeholders that we are poised for excellence as we work assiduously towards enhancing the safety and reliability of the Nigerian airspace.”
The ISO 9001:2015 certification is expected to bolster NAMA’s reputation in the global aviation industry, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a reliable player in international airspace management.
