Customs Unveils Reputation Management Guide in Zone ‘A’ to Bolster Integrity, Public Confidence

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially launched its strategic reputation management campaign in Zone ‘A’, marking a decisive step towards strengthening institutional integrity, enhancing public trust, and improving service delivery across its operations.
The initiative was formally unveiled on Monday at the Apapa Area Command in Lagos by the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Charles Orbih, who described the development as a pivotal moment in redefining the identity and image of Customs officers in Nigeria.
“Understanding what we deal with is fundamental to our success,” Orbih said. “Reputation, as defined in this guide, is a collective perspective about institutional integrity and performance. For the Nigeria Customs Service, a strong reputation enhances public trust, encourages inter-agency and international cooperation, boosts staff morale, and improves citizen engagement.”

Also speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, reaffirmed the readiness of officers within Zone ‘A’ to fully embrace and implement the principles outlined in the guide.
“I want to assure you that, on behalf of officers and men of Zone ‘A’, we stand committed to abide by every principle being taught in this programme,” Olomu pledged.
The event featured presentations from three facilitators who expounded on the core principles of reputation management. This was followed by an interactive session that fostered a renewed sense of professionalism, discipline, and patriotism among participants.
The NCS said the campaign reflects its ongoing commitment to institutional reform, positioning the Service as a transparent, trusted, and citizen-focused agency within Nigeria and beyond.
