Fidelity Bank Resumes Int’l Transactions on Naira Debit Cards, Expands Global Access for Customers

Tier-one financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has announced the reinstatement of international transactions on its Naira Debit Cards, a move that will significantly ease cross-border payments for millions of its customers.
With the resumption, Fidelity Bank customers can now make seamless payments abroad, conduct online transactions on international platforms, and withdraw cash at ATMs outside Nigeria.
Speaking on the development, Mrs. Ifeoma Onibuje, Divisional Head, eBanking at Fidelity Bank, described the initiative as a response to customer demand and part of the Bank’s drive to enhance lifestyle convenience.
“We are delighted to inform the public that Fidelity Naira Cards are now enabled for global use. This means that our travelling customers can now utilise their Naira Debit Cards outside the country to shop, spend and withdraw internationally without hassles,” she stated.
According to her, customers can now spend up to $1,000 quarterly for international Point of Sale (POS) and online transactions, in addition to a $500 quarterly withdrawal limit at international ATMs.
The announcement provides an alternative for customers who already use Fidelity’s foreign currency debit and credit cards, thereby expanding options for international transactions.
The Bank emphasised that the move reflects its commitment to delivering innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate into customers’ lifestyles.
Beyond facilitating payments, Fidelity’s VISA Naira Debit Card offers additional travel and lifestyle perks, including airport lounge and spa access via the Visa Airport Companion App, expedited immigration lanes, and 20% discounts on SIXT car rentals worldwide.
Fidelity Bank also highlighted that obtaining a card has been deliberately simplified. Customers can apply through the Fidelity Mobile App or by visiting any of its business offices nationwide.
The Bank, which serves over 9.1 million customers through its digital channels, 255 business offices across Nigeria, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited, has consistently distinguished itself with award-winning services.
In 2024 alone, Fidelity Bank received the Excellence in Digital Transformation & MSME Banking Award at the BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, the Most Innovative Mobile Banking Application Award by Global Business Outlook, and the Most Innovative Investment Banking Service Provider Award by Global Brands Magazine.
It was also named Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence and recognised as Export Financing Bank of the Year at the BAFI Awards.
The resumption of international Naira card transactions is widely seen as a bold step by Fidelity Bank to reaffirm its position as a customer-focused and innovative financial institution, providing Nigerians with secure, convenient, and reliable access to global opportunities.
