Obi Cubana Applauds United Nigeria Airlines’ Resumption of Flights to Warri

United Nigeria Airlines has officially resumed scheduled commercial services into Osubi Airport, Warri, in what has been described as a major boost to business and social activities in the oil-rich city.
The airline’s return was marked on Monday with the arrival of flight UN0548 from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The aircraft touched down to a traditional water salute and passengers were treated to a red-carpet reception, signalling the importance of the occasion.
Following the Abuja service, additional flights between Warri and Abuja, as well as the Lagos–Warri–Lagos routes, operated smoothly, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to restoring seamless connectivity for travellers in the South-South region.
Osubi Airport Manager, Mr Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, led officials in receiving the inaugural flight. He hailed the development as a welcome step towards revitalising Warri’s socio-economic landscape.
“We are delighted to welcome United Nigeria Airlines back to Osubi Airport. Their return is more than just the resumption of flights—it is the reopening of Warri to greater business opportunities, commerce, and social activities. This service will have a far-reaching impact on the city and its people, and we encourage United Nigeria Airlines to remain consistent on this route to sustain and grow these benefits,” Egwuatu said.

Among the passengers onboard the Abuja-bound return service was prominent businessman and socialite, Mr Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana. He commended the airline for restoring services into Warri, noting that its presence at Osubi would significantly ease the travel challenges faced by residents.
“I was on my way from Ohara and had originally planned to travel through Benin or Asaba. However, upon seeing the advert that United Nigeria Airlines had resumed operations into Osubi, I immediately adjusted my plans accordingly. As a United Nigeria Airlines customer, I am proud of this moment. I strongly encourage the airline to increase its frequency in order to better serve the growing number of travellers,” he said.
Other passengers also expressed their delight at the resumption of flights, stressing that consistent services would help reduce the travel burdens faced by those commuting through distant airports in neighbouring states.
With this return, United Nigeria Airlines has reaffirmed its role as a key player in enhancing air connectivity in Nigeria, while bringing renewed convenience and opportunities to Warri and its surrounding communities.
