Apapa Customs Rakes in N215 Billion via B’Odogwu Platform in August, Comptroller Olomu Reassures Stakeholders of Efficiency

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it collected a total revenue of N215 billion in August 2025, despite reported network hitches experienced on its digital trade platform, the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as B’Odogwu.

Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, described the remarkable collection as a testament to the growing confidence in the platform and the resilience of officers who have remained steadfast in the face of operational challenges.

“Our collection of N215 billion using the B’Odogwu platform confirms progress in our ongoing journey to build a dependable platform for trade by Nigerians and for all those doing import, export, and excise business in Nigeria. This is a collective victory for all of us, and we shall continue the march forward for greater successes in days, weeks, and months ahead. We are braving all odds, and the sky is our limit,” Olomu declared.

The Comptroller expressed appreciation to stakeholders and trading partners, particularly importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders operating through the nation’s premier port in Apapa. He acknowledged their patience and trust in a homegrown ICT system that is steadily reshaping customs operations and trade facilitation in Nigeria.

Olomu further noted that the Command’s performance in August reflects not only the efficiency of officers but also the unwavering patriotism of personnel whose efforts have ensured continuity of service despite the challenges posed by system downtime.

Taking a cue from the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, who has personally attended several stakeholder engagement sessions, Comptroller Olomu reassured the trading community of sustained improvements to the B’Odogwu system.

According to him, the CGC has directed the ICT/Modernisation Department at NCS Headquarters to intensify support services for the platform by promptly addressing user complaints, resolving technical hitches, and ensuring seamless operations to enhance service delivery.

Olomu maintained that with continued system upgrades and stakeholder collaboration, the UCMS was on the verge of breaking new ground and surpassing user expectations.

He concluded by praising the trading community’s “invaluable contributions to the national economy,” stressing that their collective efforts were indispensable in driving Nigeria’s quest to revolutionise trade through digital customs operations.
