SAHCO Secures Ground Handling Deal as Air Tanzania Commences Lagos Operations

Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has been chosen by Air Tanzania to provide ground handling services for its new Lagos route, marking the airline’s first partnership with SAHCO in Nigeria.
Air Tanzania, the national flag carrier of the United Republic of Tanzania, has commenced scheduled flights between its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam, and Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The service, which operates three times weekly, is expected to enhance connectivity between East and West Africa.
Under the agreement, SAHCO will provide a comprehensive range of services, including passenger handling, baggage handling, ramp operations, cargo processing, warehousing, and other aviation support solutions.
Welcoming the development, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SAHCO, Mrs Adenike Aboderin, described the contract as a reflection of SAHCO’s trusted expertise.
“We are delighted to welcome Air Tanzania to Lagos and proud they have selected SAHCO Plc as their ground handling partner. This partnership underscores our commitment to world-class service delivery, operational efficiency, and safety. Our team is fully prepared to ensure that Air Tanzania’s passengers and cargo enjoy seamless experiences from the moment they arrive,” she said.
SAHCO is the only ground handling provider with a presence in every commercially operated airport in Nigeria, a distinction that continues to attract foreign and local airlines alike. Its reputation for reliability, professional workforce, and efficient service delivery has led to an influx of international carriers seeking its services.
The company has in recent years modernised its operations by acquiring advanced ground support equipment (GSE). These machines, designed for the Nigerian aviation environment, are powered by alternative energy sources and built to achieve zero carbon emissions, reinforcing SAHCO’s sustainability agenda.
Air Tanzania’s partnership adds to SAHCO’s growing portfolio of international clients. Recently, the company also secured a ground handling agreement with Ethiopian Airlines, which operates daily flights between Addis Ababa and Lagos.
Backed by globally recognised certifications such as RA3, ISAGO, ISO 9001, and ISO 27001, SAHCO continues to position itself as a benchmark for safety and quality in aviation ground handling. Its numerous awards, both local and international, attest to its reputation as one of Africa’s most reliable aviation service providers.
The arrival of Air Tanzania in Lagos, supported by SAHCO’s expertise, is expected to further strengthen trade, tourism, and cultural ties between Nigeria and Tanzania, while also boosting regional air connectivity.
