Air Peace Boss Onyema Rewards WABU Champion Obizulike with N10m Sponsorship, Free Flights

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, has thrown his full weight behind Nigeria’s newest West African Boxing Union (WABU) welterweight champion, Elisha “Viper” Obizulike, with a N10 million sponsorship package and complimentary flight tickets for one year.

The support was announced during a courtesy visit by the boxer, an engagement that once again highlighted Air Peace’s long-standing commitment to sports development, youth empowerment, and the promotion of national pride through excellence in athletics.

Obizulike, who captured the WABU welterweight title in December 2025, remains unbeaten and has continued to attract attention as one of the country’s brightest boxing prospects.

His rapid ascent in the welterweight division, driven by discipline, resilience, and consistency, was praised by Dr Onyema as a reflection of the values needed to inspire a new generation of Nigerians.

Speaking at the reception, the Air Peace Chairman described the boxer’s achievement as a victory not just for himself, but for the nation, noting that Nigerian athletes are increasingly asserting their presence and competitiveness on the continental stage.

“Your triumph has brought honour to Nigeria and shown what is possible when young people are focused and disciplined. You have become a source of inspiration to many youths, and I am confident that with continued dedication, your success will extend far beyond West Africa,” Dr Onyema said.

He explained that the sponsorship aligns with Air Peace’s broader vision of identifying and supporting exceptional Nigerian talents who demonstrate courage, perseverance, and the ability to positively influence society.

Dr Onyema has remained a visible advocate for sports development over the years, championing initiatives that celebrate past and present sporting heroes. These include the sponsorship of legendary athletes, the appointment of distinguished sports personalities as Sports Diplomacy Ambassadors, and the creation of a Wall of Fame designed to preserve and honour Nigeria’s rich sporting heritage.

Beyond established stars, the Air Peace Chairman has also shown a strong commitment to nurturing emerging talents.

His support for Nigerian child prodigy and gymnastics sensation, Stephanie Onusiriuka, underscores his belief that early encouragement and investment are key to building sustainable excellence in sports.

By extending this significant backing to Obizulike at a defining stage of his professional journey, Air Peace has reaffirmed its message to Nigerian youths that hard work, discipline, and excellence will always be recognised and rewarded.

The latest show of support further strengthens Air Peace’s reputation not only as West and Central Africa’s largest airline, but also as a socially responsible corporate organisation dedicated to empowering young Nigerians and projecting the country’s talent and potential on the global stage.
