Overland Airways Secures ISO 9001:2015 Certification, Strengthening Commitment to Safety, Service Excellence
Overland Airways has achieved ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification, marking a major milestone in its drive for operational excellence, enhanced safety standards, and improved customer satisfaction.
The certification was awarded following months of rigorous evaluation conducted in accordance with international best-practice standards established by the International Organization for Standardization.
The formal presentation ceremony took place at the airline’s head office boardroom at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, attended by company executives, auditors, and industry stakeholders.
In her opening address, the Chief Administrative Officer and ISO Champion, Mrs Aanu Benson, described the achievement as a reflection of the airline’s commitment to embedding quality assurance across every layer of its operations.
According to her, the certification demonstrates that the organisation’s processes, procedures, and service delivery mechanisms meet globally recognised benchmarks.
The certificate was presented by Mr Noruwa Edokpolo, Managing Director of NECA’s Global, alongside auditor Miss Ibukun Ajala.
During the ceremony, Mr Williams Onwuka of Fine Spectra Consult commended the airline for its discipline and consistency throughout the auditing and compliance process, noting that such dedication reflects a strong institutional culture.
Delivering closing remarks, Managing Director Captain Edward Boyo emphasised the strategic significance of the certification, stating that it represents more than a formal recognition.
He described it as a guiding framework for the airline’s future operations, adding that quality management has become integral to its corporate philosophy and daily practice.
The Executive Director, Mrs Aduke Atiba, offered the vote of thanks, acknowledging staff, partners, and technical advisers whose collective effort contributed to securing the certification.
Industry observers note that the development complements the airline’s existing 11-year record of IOSA certification and its membership of the International Air Transport Association as well as the African Airlines Association. Together, these credentials reinforce the carrier’s compliance with globally recognised safety and quality standards.
Founded in 2002, the airline operates scheduled and charter passenger and cargo services with a mission to enhance connectivity across Nigeria’s hinterland, facilitating travel for business leaders, investors, government officials, and local communities.
Aviation analysts say the latest certification further strengthens its positioning as a reliable regional operator, particularly as it expands services with the reintroduction of routes to Ibadan, Warri, and Minna.
The airline’s management expressed confidence that the ISO recognition will deepen passenger trust, enhance operational efficiency, and solidify its standing within Nigeria’s aviation sector and the broader West African market.
