Technical Glitch Grounds Air Peace Lagos–London Flight, Replacement Aircraft Dispatched
Passengers travelling on Air Peace’s Lagos–London Gatwick service experienced delays after the airline suspended the scheduled flight due to a technical issue detected during final safety checks.
The airline, in a press statement released by its management, explained that the development occurred after passengers had already boarded the aircraft for departure from Lagos.
According to the carrier, a routine post-boarding inspection uncovered what it described as a minor aircraft fault, prompting immediate safety measures.
Air Peace stated that the aircraft was subsequently withdrawn from operation in line with international aviation safety procedures and the airline’s strict operational standards. Passengers were safely disembarked while technical personnel assessed the issue.
The airline emphasised that the decision to halt the flight was taken purely in the interest of safety, stressing that no operational consideration would override the protection of passengers and crew members.
The statement noted that although the disruption caused inconvenience to travellers, taking preventive action was necessary to ensure compliance with global aviation standards and maintain confidence in the airline’s safety culture.
To cushion the effect of the delay, Air Peace said all affected passengers were informed immediately and provided with necessary assistance, including hotel accommodation and welfare support pending the arrival of an alternative aircraft.
The airline further disclosed that a replacement aircraft would be deployed from London to operate the service, with passengers expected to continue their journey later in the day.
Air Peace also commended passengers for their calm disposition, patience and understanding throughout the situation, assuring them that the airline remained committed to delivering safe, dependable and efficient services on all its routes.
The carrier reaffirmed that safety remains the cornerstone of its operations and pledged to continue adhering strictly to international best practices in the aviation industry.
