Fidelity Bank Targets SME Growth at Abuja Business Forum

Fidelity Bank Plc is set to conclude its 2026 Quarterly Business Forum series in Abuja, bringing together entrepreneurs, business owners, industry experts and other stakeholders to explore strategies for building sustainable businesses and unlocking growth opportunities in the Federal Capital Territory.

The forum, scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Barcelona Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja, will focus on the theme, “Building Sustainable Businesses, Unlocking Growth, Governance and Opportunity in the FCT.”

The event is expected to provide a platform for participants to examine practical approaches to business development, corporate governance, operational efficiency and resilience amid changing market conditions.

Speaking ahead of the forum, the Divisional Head of SME Banking at Fidelity Bank, Mrs Ugochi Osinigwe, said sustainable business growth required a combination of access to finance, effective governance, relevant business knowledge and the ability to identify and maximise emerging opportunities.

She explained that the bank established the Quarterly Business Forum to equip business owners with practical insights, strengthen their capabilities and connect them with opportunities that could support their long-term success.

“At Fidelity Bank, we recognise that sustainable business growth requires a combination of access to finance, sound governance, relevant business knowledge and the ability to identify and maximise emerging opportunities,” Osinigwe said.

She added that the forum was designed to create an avenue for entrepreneurs to acquire the knowledge and connections needed to improve their businesses and achieve sustainable expansion.

According to her, the Abuja edition will emphasise the importance of establishing well-structured businesses capable of adapting to changing economic conditions, improving operational efficiency and positioning themselves for growth.

Osinigwe said the event would also enable participants to interact with relevant business stakeholders and explore opportunities to strengthen their competitiveness and resilience.

The Abuja forum marks the culmination of the bank’s 2026 Quarterly Business Forum series, which has promoted business engagement and knowledge sharing across the country throughout the year.

Discussions at the event are expected to build on lessons from previous editions, with particular attention to governance, sustainable business practices and strategies for navigating challenges confronting enterprises.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in Nigeria’s economy, contributing to employment generation, innovation and economic activity.

However, many businesses continue to face challenges relating to access to finance, business management, operational capacity and the development of sustainable growth strategies.

Through its SME Banking proposition and SME Hub, Fidelity Bank provides entrepreneurs with capacity-building programmes, advisory services, networking opportunities and financial solutions tailored to the needs of businesses.

The bank said these initiatives were designed to strengthen the capacity of SMEs and support their development by providing access to relevant business resources and financial services.

The forum is scheduled to commence at 11.00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at Barcelona Hotel, No. 23 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.
