AfDB Opens Applications for 2025 Internship Programme

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has officially commenced the application process for its 2025 Internship Programme, offering students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience within one of Africa’s leading financial institutions.

The initiative aims to provide participants with practical skills, exposure to impactful projects, and a chance to contribute to the Bank’s mission of reducing poverty and promoting sustainable economic growth across the continent.

Empowering the Next Generation of African Leaders

The AfDB Internship Programme is designed to support the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy (2023-2032) by identifying and nurturing potential future employees. Interns will work on high-impact projects in critical sectors such as energy, agriculture, and industrialisation, gaining hands-on experience that aligns with the Bank’s developmental goals.

In addition to professional exposure, the programme offers a monthly stipend, health insurance, and the chance to work either remotely or at AfDB’s headquarters or regional offices. This holistic approach ensures participants acquire essential skills while directly contributing to the Bank’s overarching objectives.

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements

Applicants must meet specific qualifications to be considered for the programme. These include:

Nationality: Must be a citizen of an AfDB member country.

Age: Between 18 and 30 years old at the start of the internship.

Education: Currently enrolled in a master’s degree programme at a recognised institution or have completed the degree within the past year.

Language Skills: Proficiency in either English or French, the Bank’s official working languages.

Technical Proficiency: Competence in standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with SAP is considered an added advantage.

Programme Details and Logistics

The internship duration ranges from three to six months.
