The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has assured travellers of its readiness to provide maximum security and seamless facilitation at all the nation’s airports during the yuletide.

In a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the authority said passenger experience at the nation’s airports, particularly those that serve as major gateways to and from the outside world, would be central to its mandate.

The statement reads in part:

“The FAAN wishes to notify air travelers and other airport users that her network of airports across the country is fully prepared for the usual surge in passenger traffic that is the norm during the season.

“In preparation for the season and beyond, we have beefed up security at all our airports, especially the major international gateways in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.

“Also, we are intensifying our effort at improving facilities and infrastructure to ensure maximum comfort for all airport users. At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Port Harcourt International Airport, the recently commissioned brand new terminals are fully ready to play host to our esteemed passengers in a safe, secure and very comfortable ambience.

“At our premier airport, the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, the VIP lounge has been renovated to enhance passenger comfort, the carousels are working optimally, amidst other facilities upgrade currently ongoing.

“The stories are similar at all other airports, as the Authority has put in place facilities, procedures, and  systems to ensure maximum comfort, safety and security of airport users during this season and beyond.”

The authority also enjoined intending travellers to be time-conscious to avoid missing their flights.

“FAAN will like to use this opportunity to appeal to passengers to please get to the airports early to conclude all check-in procedures in good time, so as to avoid the experience of missing their flights.

“This is important because of the heavy passenger traffic that is usually the experience around this time and also due to ongoing construction works around the Lagos and Abuja airports.

“FAAN will continue to deliver on its core values of Safety, Security and Comfort.”
