Ogun II Customs Rakes in Over N15 Billion in First Quarter of 2025, Records 40% Revenue Surge

The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a remarkable revenue haul of N15.19 billion for the first quarter of 2025, marking a 40% increase from the same period in 2024.

This significant performance was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bisi Alade, during a press briefing held on Friday at the Command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to Compt. Alade, the Command generated a total of N15,191,227,503.82 between January and April 2025, a substantial leap from the N9,165,717,162.99 recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year.

He attributed this stellar achievement to “the diligence, commitment, and professionalism of our officers and men,” and to the strategic deployment of key operational reforms.

The detailed figures provided by the Area Controller show consistent monthly gains:

January: N4,000,335,353.53
February: N3,486,267,681.44
March: N3,444,179,992.46
April: N4,260,444,476.39

By revenue source, the collection was distributed as follows:

Excise: N8,333,039,874.82
Free Trade Zone: N7,164,777,965.00
Bonded Terminal (Import): N1,495,658,869.00

The Comptroller also revealed that the Command had recently uncovered an unauthorised factory operating illegally, which has now been brought under excise control – demonstrating the Command’s resolve to sanitise the business environment within its Area of Responsibility (AoR).

Alade outlined several strategic initiatives that have driven the improved performance of the Command, including:

Enhanced operations of the Command’s Monitoring Unit
Strengthened intelligence gathering
Deeper stakeholder engagement
Stronger commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR)

He affirmed that these efforts are in line with the overarching vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whose policy of Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation continues to shape Customs operations nationwide.

Reiterating the Command’s readiness to exceed this performance in the coming months, Comptroller Alade assured that efforts would continue to focus on compliance enforcement, stakeholder education, and inter-agency synergy.

“We shall maintain success through synergy with our partners while discharging our statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policy,” he stated.

The Customs chief expressed deep appreciation to the personnel of the Ogun II Area Command for their unwavering commitment, as well as to the CGC and his management team for their steadfast support.

He also acknowledged the collaborative spirit of sister agencies and thanked the press for their objectivity and support.
