Air Peace Acquires Fourth Boeing 777 to Bolster International Expansion

Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, a move the airline says will significantly strengthen its global operations and affirm its position as a leading player in West and Central Africa’s aviation market.
The wide-body Boeing 777-200 ER, with registration number 5N-CEG, touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday, 22nd August 2025, at exactly 3:32 p.m. from Teruel, Spain.
The arrival was marked with a ceremonial water-cannon salute, followed by a warm reception led by the airline’s Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema; Executive Director, Obinna Onyema; Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide; and other members of the management team.
Addressing the press, the airline’s spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, said the acquisition was in line with Air Peace’s mission of deepening global connectivity.

The aircraft, configured with 312 seats comprising 26 luxury Business Class seats and 286 Economy Class seats, boasts cutting-edge features. Its Business Class offers enhanced privacy and ambient comfort, while Economy travellers will benefit from spacious legroom and refined inflight services.
During a guided tour of the aircraft, Dr. Onyema described the acquisition as a landmark in Air Peace’s growth journey. He disclosed that the new Boeing 777 will, within the next two months, be deployed on inaugural long-haul routes from Abuja to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
He further unveiled plans to expand the airline’s international footprint with direct services to key European destinations, South America – with Sao Paulo, Brazil, in focus – and the Caribbean, building upon Air Peace’s pioneering entry into Antigua and Barbuda, as well as St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This delivery is not just about an aircraft; it is about Nigeria stepping further into its rightful place on the global aviation map,” Onyema declared.
He reiterated the airline’s commitment to offering affordable fares for Nigerians, noting that the presence of strong local carriers is vital to breaking the dominance of foreign airlines and reducing the high ticket prices that passengers have long endured.
Onyema also underscored the importance of establishing an efficient hub system in Nigeria to optimise both regional and international connectivity.

In his remarks, the Air Peace Chairman expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support of indigenous airlines through policy frameworks that foster growth.
He also commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for introducing inclusive measures that are empowering Nigerian carriers to compete favourably on the global stage.
With the arrival of its fourth Boeing 777, Air Peace is now firmly positioned to expand its long-haul network and reinforce its role as a strong ambassador of Nigerian aviation on the international scene.
