Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, has conferred an honourary doctorate degree on the Chief Executive Officer of Landover Company and Managing Director of Overland Airways, Capt. Capt. Boyo received the prestigious Honourary Doctorate, Honoris Causa (Doctor of Business Administration), during the University’s 20th Convocation Ceremony held at its auditorium on 1 November 2025.

The University described Capt. Boyo as a distinguished aviation entrepreneur “whose outstanding contributions to the aviation sector continue to inspire excellence, innovation, and leadership.”

Capt. Boyo has spent decades in the aviation sector building and nurturing institutions, improving capacity, and shaping industry policy. Under his leadership, Overland Airways has grown into one of Nigeria’s most reliable scheduled and charter air transport operators, while Landover Company has become an aviation services pioneer on the continent.

The conferment ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including the Oluwo of Iwo Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, as well as executives, family members, industry allies, and friends of Capt. Boyo.

In his acceptance speech, Capt. Boyo expressed deep appreciation to the University for the recognition, assuring that the honour would further motivate him to continue investing in people, systems, and development across the aviation chain.

“I am deeply delighted to receive this recognition and wish to extend my gratitude to the leadership of Bowen University for this honour,” he said. “This honour will spur me further to continue making my contributions to Nigeria’s air transport industry in particular and the economy in general. I assure the Bowen University community that I will be a worthy ambassador of this great institution and continue on the path of excellence, investing in our people and systems to ensure a better aviation sector in Nigeria.”

The Executive Director of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited, Mrs. Aduke Atiba, applauded the recognition, describing it as well deserved.

“The Management and staff of Landover Company and Overland Airways Limited extend our warmest congratulations to Capt. Boyo on this well-deserved honour, celebrating his remarkable achievement and unwavering dedication to the industry. This recognition reinforces our belief in the excellence culture we strive for daily. His leadership has been nothing but transformational and we are proud of this achievement,” she stated.

In further demonstration of his longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, Capt. Boyo rewarded the overall best graduating student, Miss Lotechukwu Ikpo of the Economics Department, who finished with a perfect 5.00 CGPA, with a cash gift and a scholarship to support her Master’s Degree pursuit.

Beyond Nigeria, Capt. Boyo plays a pivotal role in shaping Africa’s single aviation market agenda. He currently serves as Ambassador for West Africa for the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), the African Union’s flagship project aimed at liberalising the continent’s airspace and boosting connectivity, trade, tourism and integration.

Capt. Boyo founded Overland Airways, an International Air Transport Association (IATA) member airline, which over the years has pioneered scheduled air services to various airports across Nigeria and West Africa.

He is also the Founder and Managing Director of Landover Company Limited, an aviation services company headquartered in Lagos and established more than 30 years ago.

He is widely regarded as a visionary pilot and aviation development strategist, committed to driving growth in Nigeria’s secondary cities and hub economies through safe, reliable, and affordable air transport services.
