NCS Approves New Management Appointments, Special Promotions at 64th Meeting
The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved a new round of high-level appointments and special promotions, marking a significant restructuring of the Service’s leadership and reward system.
The decisions were reached at the Board’s 64th Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, 25 November 2025.
Chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the meeting ratified the appointment of five Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) and eight Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs). According to the Board, the appointments comply with statutory guidelines and the Federal Character provisions outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-Generals are: Baba Imam (North-East), Isah Umar (North-West), Tijjani Abe (North-West), Timi Bomodi (South-South), and Oluyomi Adebakin (South-West).
Their elevation follows the retirement of senior officers and is expected to strengthen Customs’ strategic leadership across its national formations.
The Board also confirmed the appointment of the following officers as Assistant Comptroller-Generals: C.G. Ogbonna (South-East), I. Abba-Aji (North-East), G.M. Haruna (South-South), E.J. Edelduok (South-South), G. Gaura (North-West), I. Isyaku (North-West), M.S. Shuaibu (North-Central), and M.D. Malah (North-East).

Their appointments, the Board noted, underscore ongoing efforts to strengthen policy execution, compliance management, and operational efficiency across the Service.
In further recognition of exemplary performance, the NCSB approved Special Promotion for ten officers who demonstrated outstanding leadership, professionalism and service delivery.
Those promoted include: A.C. Fanyam – Comptroller of Customs, G.M. Shidali – Comptroller of Customs, S. Omofoma – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, O.A. Oladepo – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, A.Y. Musa – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, A. Ogboru – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, A.A. Maiwada – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, C.N. Essien – Assistant Comptroller of Customs, H. Aliyu – Assistant Comptroller of Customs, A.S. Shofadekan – Deputy Superintendent of Customs.
The Board described the Special Promotion category as a recognition reserved for officers whose contributions significantly enhanced operational efficiency and boosted national revenue and security initiatives in their respective units.
According to the NCSB, the newly approved appointments and promotions align with ongoing efforts to strengthen the Service’s leadership succession framework, boost personnel morale, and ensure that the Nigeria Customs Service remains agile and responsive to the dynamics of trade facilitation, border security and administrative reforms.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to building a motivated and strategically positioned workforce capable of meeting the nation’s evolving customs and revenue-generation challenges.
