The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a historic revenue performance after surpassing its 2025 target with a total collection of N1.6 trillion, marking one of the highest revenue figures in the Command’s history.

The milestone was announced on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, during a recognition ceremony held at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos, where outstanding officers were honoured for what was described as exceptional dedication and professionalism.

Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, disclosed that the Command exceeded its approved 2025 revenue target of N1.524 trillion, describing the achievement as a significant leap compared to previous years’ performance.

According to Onyeka, the feat was driven by teamwork, improved efficiency and a renewed emphasis on transparency in Customs operations. He stressed that the success was not the result of individual effort but collective commitment across all units of the Command.

“This achievement is a product of collective effort, enhanced efficiency and transparency. A tree can never make a forest. I could not have done it alone. Our officers deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts,” the CAC said.

He explained that the award ceremony was part of a broader institutional effort within the Nigeria Customs Service to promote a culture that recognises diligence, professionalism and shared responsibility among officers.

Onyeka also highlighted a number of operational reforms introduced under his leadership to strengthen trade facilitation and improve service delivery. Chief among these reforms, he noted, were measures aimed at eliminating avoidable delays in file processing and cargo clearance.

“Upon my assumption of office, I made it clear that files should not be held unnecessarily. If there are issues, let them be clearly identified and addressed. If you are not sure what to do, ask,” he stated.

The CAC further disclosed that the recently launched Time Release Study report by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has further reinforced the Command’s resolve to fast-track legitimate trade while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.

He also paid tribute to his predecessor, Deputy Comptroller-General Dera Nnadi, describing his tenure as “superb” and acknowledging that the foundations laid during his leadership contributed significantly to the Command’s recent achievements.

Comptroller Onyeka concluded by expressing appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, industry stakeholders, partners and officers of the Command for their continued support and confidence, despite prevailing economic and operational challenges, assuring that the Command would sustain its drive towards efficiency, accountability and enhanced revenue performance.
