Fidelity Bank Takes Quarterly Business Forum to Kano, Targets Growth for Northern Businesses

Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, is set to host the Kano edition of its Quarterly Business Forum on September 2, 2026, as part of efforts to provide entrepreneurs and businesses in Northern Nigeria with knowledge, connections and opportunities needed to strengthen their operations and achieve sustainable growth.

The forum, scheduled to hold on Wednesday in Kano, will bring together business owners, entrepreneurs, industry leaders and other key stakeholders to examine opportunities and emerging trends shaping the business environment across the northern region.

Themed “Positioning Northern Businesses for Growth,” the event is expected to focus on practical strategies that can help enterprises improve their competitiveness and build stronger foundations for long-term expansion.

According to Fidelity Bank, discussions at the forum will cover key areas including strengthening business operations, improving financial management, expanding access to finance, leveraging digital solutions and widening market reach.

The bank said participants would also have the opportunity to interact with industry experts and business leaders, exchange experiences and build strategic relationships capable of opening new opportunities for their businesses.

The Kano edition follows the Bank’s previous Quarterly Business Forum held in Port Harcourt, which brought together entrepreneurs and business leaders for sessions focused on practical business insights, industry connections and sustainable enterprise growth.

Speaking ahead of the Kano event, the Divisional Head, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises Banking at Fidelity Bank Plc, Ugochi Osinigwe, said the initiative was designed to give businesses practical tools and access to opportunities that could enhance their growth and competitiveness.

“The Fidelity Bank Quarterly Business Forum is designed to equip businesses with practical knowledge, meaningful connections, and access to opportunities that can drive growth and competitiveness,” Osinigwe said.

She explained that the decision to bring the forum to Kano reflected the bank’s commitment to supporting businesses across the country, with particular attention to entrepreneurs operating in Northern Nigeria.

“Bringing this edition to Kano underscores our commitment to supporting businesses across Nigeria and, particularly, empowering entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria with the knowledge and resources they need to unlock their growth potential,” she added.

The bank said the forum would provide participants with actionable insights tailored to the realities of the contemporary business environment, at a time when many small and medium-sized enterprises are seeking innovative ways to manage costs, access funding, adopt technology and expand into new markets.

Fidelity Bank noted that the Quarterly Business Forum forms part of its broader strategy to support the growth and development of Nigeria’s Small and Medium-sized Enterprises sector through access to knowledge, capacity-building programmes, tailored financial services and strategic business networks.

The lender has continued to position support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as a major component of its financial inclusion and enterprise development initiatives.

Recently, the bank emerged winner of the Development Bank of Nigeria Service Ambassadors Award for the Highest Impact on MSMEs Accessing Credit for the First Time, a recognition it said reflected its efforts to deepen financial inclusion and improve access to credit for businesses.

Through its various SME-focused initiatives, Fidelity Bank said it has continued to provide entrepreneurs with opportunities to acquire relevant business knowledge, access financial products and build relationships that can support the development of stronger and more sustainable enterprises.

The Kano forum is therefore expected to further extend the bank’s engagement with businesses outside Nigeria’s major commercial centres, while providing a platform for northern entrepreneurs to explore challenges and opportunities specific to the region.

Fidelity Bank Plc is a full-fledged commercial deposit money bank with a customer base of more than 10 million, served through its digital banking platforms, 255 business offices across Nigeria and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.

The bank has also received several local and international recognitions for its banking operations and support for businesses.

Among its recent awards are the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support; the Best Retail and SME Bank Award from Independent Newspapers; and the Best Bank for Export and Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year awards at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions Awards.

Fidelity Bank was also named Nigeria’s Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards.

Other recognitions received by the institution include the inaugural Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year award by Nairametrics, the SME Bank of the Year award by NewsDirect and the Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award by Citi Group.

The bank has equally received recognition from Global Brands Magazine for Excellence in Community Empowerment.

With the forthcoming Kano edition of its Quarterly Business Forum, Fidelity Bank is expected to provide another platform for entrepreneurs and business leaders to examine ways of positioning enterprises for sustainable growth, while strengthening access to the knowledge, networks and resources required to compete in an increasingly challenging business environment.
