DHL Express Unveils Domestic Delivery Service to Drive SME, E-Commerce Growth in Nigeria

DHL Express has introduced a new domestic delivery service, Domestic Select, as part of efforts to provide businesses and individuals in Nigeria with a more affordable and flexible option for moving parcels within the country.

The logistics company said the new service was specifically designed for less urgent shipments, giving customers an alternative that combines affordability, convenience and reliability while connecting them with recipients and business opportunities across Nigeria.

The launch comes as domestic trade, e-commerce and entrepreneurship continue to expand, with businesses increasingly looking beyond their immediate geographical locations to attract customers and sell their products.

DHL said the changing business environment had made reliable domestic logistics an increasingly important component of business operations, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and online retailers.

Through Domestic Select, the company said businesses would have access to a dependable shipping solution that could help them fulfil orders, supply customers in other parts of the country and explore new markets without necessarily requiring an urgent delivery service.

The service is also targeted at entrepreneurs, corporate organisations and individuals who need to send parcels within Nigeria while seeking a practical and cost-effective delivery option.

DHL Express Country Manager, Nigeria, Muyiwa Adeseyoju, said the company recognised the important role logistics played in helping businesses grow and maintain customer satisfaction.

“At DHL Express, we understand that reliable logistics is critical to business growth and customer satisfaction,” Adeseyoju said.

He said the needs of businesses were changing, with customers increasingly demanding delivery solutions that were not only dependable but also accessible and affordable.

“Businesses today need delivery solutions that are dependable, accessible, and cost-effective. Domestic Select gives customers more flexibility and choice for their less urgent shipments without compromising on reliability,” he said.

According to Adeseyoju, DHL had combined its existing operational expertise and network with a solution designed around the requirements of the Nigerian market.

“By combining DHL’s trusted network and operational expertise with a solution tailored to local needs, we are making domestic shipping more accessible for businesses and individuals across Nigeria,” he added.

The company said Domestic Select would provide businesses with greater flexibility in determining the appropriate shipping option for their parcels, particularly where delivery speed is not the primary consideration.

For SMEs, the service could support the fulfilment of orders from customers located outside their traditional markets, allowing businesses to extend their reach without having to establish physical outlets in every location.

Online retailers and entrepreneurs are also expected to benefit as Nigeria’s digital commerce ecosystem continues to develop.

DHL noted that the growth of digital commerce was enabling businesses to overcome traditional geographical limitations and reach customers in different parts of the country.

However, the ability to deliver products efficiently remains crucial to maintaining customer confidence and encouraging repeat purchases.

The company therefore positioned Domestic Select as a logistics solution capable of supporting businesses as they expand their customer bases and seek more efficient ways of managing domestic deliveries.

Beyond commercial shipments, DHL said individuals could use the service to send parcels to family members and friends across Nigeria, providing greater convenience for domestic shipments.

The company said customers would also benefit from DHL’s established expertise and service standards in handling shipments, adding that the new offering would provide confidence in the movement of parcels across the country.

DHL said the service was particularly suited to SMEs, online retailers, entrepreneurs and corporate customers seeking a reliable domestic shipping partner.

It added that strengthening domestic logistics connectivity could help businesses access new markets, improve customer experience and enhance operational efficiency.

The launch of Domestic Select also underscores DHL Express’ broader objective of facilitating trade by improving the movement of goods between businesses and consumers.

The company said it remained committed to supporting businesses and contributing to economic growth by providing logistics solutions that respond to changing market demands.

With the introduction of Domestic Select, DHL Express is seeking to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s domestic logistics market while giving businesses and individuals more choice in how they move parcels within the country.
