Enugu Air to Launch Direct Enugu-Douala Flights Twice Weekly
Enugu Air is set to strengthen regional air connectivity between Nigeria and Cameroon with the introduction of direct flights between Enugu and Douala, the airline has announced.
The new international service is expected to provide a direct link between the South-East Nigerian city and Cameroon’s commercial hub, while improving travel options for business travellers, families and other passengers travelling between the two countries.
The airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Ugonna Agubuokwu, said the new route was designed to bring businesses, families and opportunities closer together by making regional travel more accessible and convenient.
Agubuokwu described the initiative as more than the introduction of another international route, saying it was aimed at strengthening connections between Nigeria and Cameroon.
“This is more than the introduction of a new route. It is about creating stronger connections between Nigeria and Cameroon, and making regional travel more accessible, convenient and seamless for our passengers,” he said.
According to the airline, the Enugu-Douala service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Flights departing from Enugu are scheduled to leave at 12:45 p.m. and arrive in Douala at 1:45 p.m., while the return service will depart Douala at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in Enugu at 3:30 p.m.
The airline said the schedule had been structured to facilitate connections for passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja through Enugu.
Agubuokwu said the timing would enable passengers from the two major Nigerian cities to connect to the new regional service without having to rely on more complicated travel arrangements.
“Flights from Enugu are scheduled to depart at 12:45 p.m., arriving in Douala at 1:45 p.m. The return service will depart Douala at 2:30 p.m., arriving in Enugu at 3:30 p.m. The timing is such that passengers can connect from Lagos and Abuja,” he said.
The introduction of the route comes amid efforts by Nigerian and other African airlines to improve intra-African air connectivity, particularly by creating more direct links between regional commercial centres.
For travellers from South-East Nigeria, the new service is expected to provide a more direct option for reaching Douala, potentially reducing the need to travel through other airports before connecting to Cameroon.
Douala is one of Cameroon’s principal commercial centres and an important gateway for business and regional trade, making the new connection significant for passengers travelling for commercial, professional and family-related purposes.
Enugu Air said the new route was part of its broader ambition to simplify regional travel and improve connectivity within Africa.
Agubuokwu further highlighted the wider economic and social relevance of improved regional connections.
“For business, for opportunity, and for the connections that matter, Africa is closer than you think,” he said.
The airline said the Enugu-Douala service would further reinforce its drive to expand regional connectivity and make travel between African destinations simpler and more convenient.
The new route also gives passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja an additional option for accessing Cameroon through Enugu, with the airline positioning the service as a link that could support business, family and other cross-border connections.
Enugu Air is expected to provide further details on ticketing, fares and other travel arrangements as the service gets underway.
