Chinese automobile manufacturer, Jetour, has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its business and investment in Nigeria, as it seeks to consolidate its presence in the country’s rapidly evolving automobile market and strengthen its position across Africa.

Vice President of Jetour, Yuan Anguo, gave the assurance in Abuja on Wednesday at the Jetour Experience, where the company brought together customers, dealers, motoring enthusiasts and other industry stakeholders to showcase its growing range of vehicles.

Yuan said the increasing confidence of Nigerian consumers in the Jetour brand had strengthened the company’s resolve to establish a sustainable and long-term business in the country.

He stressed that Jetour viewed Nigeria as more than a short-term commercial opportunity, indicating that the company planned to deepen its operations and investment as it pursued greater market penetration in Nigeria and other African markets.

The three-day Jetour Experience, which commenced on Tuesday at the Maha Event Centre, Area 8, Garki, Abuja, is providing customers with an opportunity to see, inspect and test the company’s latest vehicles.

The Abuja event, which ends today, Thursday, follows the successful staging of the Lagos edition and forms part of the company’s strategy of taking its products closer to consumers while expanding its market reach.

Jetour’s display includes the X50, X70 Plus, X70 PHEV, X90 Plus, T2, T2 PHEV, Dashing, Rely R8, G700, T1 and F700.

The growing portfolio gives the company a presence across several segments while also offering Nigerian motorists a choice between petrol-powered, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

During a panel discussion at the event, Managing Director of New Era AutoVehicle Services, Kemi Koyejo, said the broad product range reflected the different requirements of Nigerian motorists.

According to her, consumers have varying preferences and expectations when purchasing vehicles, making it necessary for automobile manufacturers to provide a wider range of options.

Koyejo said Jetour was combining luxury, safety and technology in its vehicles to respond to changing consumer expectations.

She explained that the name Jetour was derived from “Jet plus Tour”, reflecting the brand’s philosophy of making mobility more enjoyable.

Describing Jetour as “forward-looking”, she said the company was developing petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles under its “Drive Your Future” corporate tagline.

The expansion of Jetour’s product portfolio comes at a time when vehicle buyers are increasingly examining technology, fuel economy, safety, connectivity and overall ownership value before making purchasing decisions.

Executive Director of Elizade Nigeria Limited, Dr Ademola Philip-Adewunmi, said after-sales support would therefore remain central to the company’s ability to retain customers and expand its market share.

Adewunmi disclosed that Jetour had sold about 1,000 vehicles in Nigeria within three years, describing the figure as evidence of growing acceptance of the brand.

He noted that Nigerian consumers were becoming more knowledgeable about vehicles and were undertaking extensive research before purchasing.

He said factors such as vehicle aesthetics, technology, connectivity, performance and value for money were increasingly influencing buying decisions.

Beyond the initial purchase, he stressed that customers also needed confidence that spare parts and technical support would remain available throughout the lifespan of their vehicles.

Adewunmi disclosed that Jetour vehicles come with a five-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, while customers could also take advantage of trade-in opportunities.

The combination of warranty protection, trade-in options and after-sales support, he said, was aimed at improving the ownership experience and strengthening customer confidence in the brand.

Road safety also featured prominently during the event, with Corps Commander Cherries Muta of the Federal Road Safety Corps highlighting the contribution vehicle technology can make to safer motoring.

Muta said safety features incorporated into Jetour vehicles, including sensors and driver-warning systems, could assist motorists by providing additional alerts while driving.

The Abuja Experience also featured cultural performances and a second panel session which examined mobility entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in Nigeria’s transportation sector.

The event is part of Jetour Nigeria’s broader expansion strategy, which includes bringing its vehicles closer to potential customers and strengthening its network of dealers and service providers across the country.

With its growing range of conventional and electrified vehicles, Jetour is positioning itself to compete for a larger share of Nigeria’s automobile market while pursuing its stated objective of building a long-term business and investment footprint in Nigeria and across Africa.
