Africa World Airlines marks one decade of success on Lagos–Accra route, rewards loyal customers
Africa World Airlines (AWA) has commemorated a decade of exceptional flight service on the Lagos–Accra route.
In a grand celebration held at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the airline expressed its gratitude to loyal customers by presenting them with free tickets during the anniversary event attended by high-profile guests and industry personalities.
Mr. Jonathan Appiah, Head of Commercial at AWA, welcomed attendees, stating, “As we gather to commemorate the 10th anniversary of our Lagos route, it brings me immense joy and pride to reflect on a decade that has been nothing short of remarkable for Africa World Airlines.”
Reflecting on the past and looking towards the future, Mr. Appiah emphasised the commitment to innovation, expansion, and excellence in all endeavours.
He shared the airline’s plans for the upcoming year, highlighting the introduction of E190s to the fleet as a pivotal moment in their expansion strategy.
“Looking ahead to the first half of the upcoming year, we are poised to transcend the boundaries of our achievements.
“The introduction of the E190s to our fleet marks a pivotal moment in our expansion strategy. This enhancement will not only bolster our fleet but also pave the way for the expansion of our network,” said Appiah.
He disclosed that the enhanced fleet is expected to facilitate the expansion of the airline’s network to include exciting destinations such as Monrovia, Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, Sao Tome, Port Harcourt, Abidjan, and more.
“In line with our expansion, we’re thrilled to announce the inclusion of several exciting destinations in our network. Monrovia, Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, Sao Tome, Port Harcourt, Abidjan, and many more will soon become integral parts of our service offerings,” Appiah said.
Appiah reiterated the airline’s dedication to connecting more people and communities, fostering relationships, and enriching travel experiences.

He attributed the expansion of the airline’s route network to the unwavering support and loyalty of customers and stakeholders, stating, “None of these strides would have been possible without the unwavering support and loyalty of our stakeholders.
“Through every challenge and triumph of the past decade, our stakeholders have stood by Africa World Airlines, offering their support, guidance, and trust.
“For this steadfast loyalty, we are immensely grateful. Your belief in our vision has been the cornerstone of our success, and we are deeply appreciative of your enduring partnership.”
Mr. Kingsley Chima, the Airline’s Country Manager, expressed excitement about AWA being the first airline to provide a shuttle service on the route with five flights daily.
He thanked those who contributed to this achievement and pledged to maintain the standard that AWA has become renowned for.
The Country Manager Nigeria took the opportunity to express gratitude to pioneer organizations and personalities who supported the airline during its early operations into Nigeria, including Mrs. Gloria Atumu of APG, the GSA of the Airline at inception, and Mr. Adeniyi Adigun, Director Sales of Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO Plc).
