Afrijet, Air Sierra Leone Engage NAHCO for Ground Handling Operations in Nigeria
One of West Africa’s leading ground handling service providers, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance), has commenced the year on a high note, securing significant contracts with regional operators Afrijet and Air Sierra Leone.
These partnerships further solidify NAHCO’s reputation as a premier ground handling service provider in Nigeria.
The agreements, which take effect in 2024, will see NAHCO manage Afrijet’s operations at Port Harcourt and Lagos airports over a three-year period, running until 2027.
Similarly, the ground handling giant will oversee Air Sierra Leone’s operations at Lagos airport under a five-year contract extending to 2029.
Speaking on the new partnerships, Prince Saheed Lasisi, Group Executive Director, Commercial & Business Development, NAHCO Plc, expressed delight at the development, describing it as an excellent way to kick off the New Year.
He highlighted the company’s 45-year track record of unmatched service delivery in the aviation industry.
“NAHCO delivers at all times. Our several years of experience have endeared us to all international and regional airlines, and they all continue to choose NAHCO,” Lasisi said.
He emphasised the professionalism and expertise of NAHCO’s workforce, which he noted has set the benchmark for ground handling operations in Nigeria.
Welcoming Afrijet and Air Sierra Leone to NAHCO’s portfolio, he added, “Our team of professional and experienced staff assures both airlines of a smooth and fascinating experience. They have made the best choice any airline could have made.”
NAHCO’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Olumekun, also expressed confidence in the company’s ability to deliver consistent and high-quality services to its clients.
“We cannot afford to give our valued clients any cause to complain. We are on top of this game for the long term,” Olumekun said, reiterating NAHCO’s commitment to maintaining its leadership position in ground handling services.
With these contracts, NAHCO continues to make significant strides in its quest to handle ground operations for most international airlines operating in and out of Nigeria.
Founded in December 1979 by the Federal Government through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in partnership with Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Sabena, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc is now the largest ground handling service provider in West Africa.
Publicly listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), NAHCO has diversified investments spanning energy, logistics, a Free Trade Zone company, airport management, travel and hospitality, and food and beverage export.
As of December 31, 2023, its major shareholders include Godsmart Nigeria Limited (26.95%), White Cowries Industries Limited (9.16%), and Awhua Resources Limited (7.13%).
The company’s multi-billion-naira operation continues to drive excellence in aviation services, positioning it as the preferred choice for airlines across the region.
