Agoro, re-elected NATCA president, vows to move profession forward
The incumbent national president of the Nigeria Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), Mr. Abayomi Agoro, has been re-elected for a second term.
Out of 413 votes cast during an election conducted online, Agoro polled 238 votes to defeat his opponent, Hussaini Jubril, who scored 175.
Speaking after he was presented a certificate of return, the NATCA president thanked members for the peaceful online conduct of the election and assured them of greater struggle ahead in unity.
In his words “I implore all of us to know that the election is over and it is one NATCA.”
He said he looks forward to the contribution of every member with a view to uplifting the association to a greater height in the interest of all.
Agoro further assured members that the executives will be dogged in their efforts to ensure that their welfare is catered for accordingly, adding that he would do his best to raise the bar of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association.
“We will continue to engage those in authority to see that our welfare is being taken seriously and we should also try as much as possible to dedicate ourselves to the profession”.
Meanwhile, the re-elected general secretary of NATCA, Rev Felix Agbonlahor has attributed his re-election to good work and dedication to duty.
Agbonlahor told journalists after taking the second oath of office that the challenges were enormous during the first tenure with questions of being able to perform in-office, but noted that support from members made him scale through the challenges.
He said his victory was a testament that people appreciated what he was able to render and disclosed that there were challenges ahead of this time.
Agbonlahor said he has been inspired to do more work and will not relent as it was not a time to go on holiday but to work as they could be future ambition.
He called for more synergy between the executive council and all members by providing necessary counseling to move the association forward.
