AIB aims for infrastructural upgrade in 2019
The Accident Investigation Bureau has said it would focus on infrastructural upgrade of its facilities in the year (2019) with a view to boosting its investigative oversight on air crashes.
Commissioner of the Bureau, Akin Olateru, told newsmen in Lagos recently that it would ensure constant review of its systems, processes and procedure, and invest more on human capital development.
Olateru noted that, after a holistic assessment of the Bureau’s performance last year (2018), he was satisfied with its remarkable achievements, but there were some grey areas that needed more attention as the bureau aims to become the most enviable institution in accident investigation globally.
In the build-up to actualizing the bureau’s top agenda for the year – infrastructural upgrade – the commissioner enjoined members of staff to put in their best with a view to achieve the bureau’s set-targets.
In dispensing their duties, Olateru advised that they should do so in the most cordial manner, fostering an even better working relationship that engenders dynamism.
He added that the feat achieved by the bureau in the previous years was made possible by the management and staff of the agency who worked tirelessly to make the agency one of the most vibrant in the industry.
From 2019 and beyond, however, the AIB boss said, “We shall be better than before. We will do more in upgrading our infrastructure, equipment and invest more on human capital development. All these I believe will make AIB a world class institution and make it an enviable place to work.
“I therefore call on us all to roll up our sleeves, tighten our seat belts and be prepared f or greater work deliveries. This we shall do in most cordial manner fostering an even better working relationship with dynamism.
He thanked the entire AIB team for the unalloyed support and cooperation he had enjoyed working with each and every one of them through 2018.
“Let’s take this auspicious moment to applaud our corporate hard work and synergy and to say well done for a good job in 2018. We will not rest on our oars but must be determined to make more successes than we have recorded,” he said.
