Air Peace bids farewell to esteemed Head of CAMO, Andy Kassa

The management and staff of Air Peace Limited, West Africa’s largest airline, came together in a heartfelt gathering on Friday night – May 17, 2024, at the Oriental Restaurant of The Shen Garden, Lagos, to honour Andy Mekonnon Kassa, the Head of Aviation Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO), as he departs the company after three years of dedicated service.

In a statement sent to Daily African Times after the event, the airline said Andy Kassa, of Ethiopian origin, leaves behind a legacy marked by his unparalleled commitment and passion for aviation excellence. 

Joining Air Peace three years ago as the Technical Service Engineering Manager, Kassa quickly transitioned to the role of Head of CAMO, where his expertise significantly bolstered the airline’s airworthiness record. 

According to the airline, his implementation of rigorous safety protocols and enhancement of maintenance standards led to notable improvements in aircraft reliability and overall operational efficiency.

The farewell event was reportedly a nostalgic evening filled with personal anecdotes and heartfelt messages, highlighting the close-knit community Kassa helped foster at Air Peace. 

Colleagues were said to have shared stories of his unwavering dedication and mentorship, underscoring the positive impact he had on their professional and personal lives.

Dr. Allen Onyema, Air Peace’s Chairman, hosted the event and expressed deep sentiments about Kassa’s departure, comparing it to losing a family member.

Onyema acknowledged Kassa as an aviator of exceptional calibre.

“Andy’s commitment to safety and quality has set a new benchmark for our operations. His tremendous contribution to the airline’s Maintenance and Planning departments has ingrained a culture of safety and technical excellence among our engineers and the entire team.

“We are grateful for his leadership and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” Onyema remarked.

In his farewell address, Kassa expressed profound gratitude towards the Air Peace Chairman and the Air Peace family for their support and collaboration. 

“It has been an honour to work with such a dedicated team. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones. I look forward to seeing Air Peace continue to soar to new heights,” he said.

The airline said as it bids farewell to Andy Mekonnon Kassa, the foundations he has laid will continue to shape the company’s operations, and his legacy of excellence and passion for aviation will undoubtedly inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
