Air Peace Creates 1,000 Graduate Jobs, Applauds FG for Suspending 4% Levy

In a bold move that underscores the synergy between government policy and private sector growth, Air Peace has announced the creation of 1,000 graduate jobs through its 2025/2026 Graduate Trainee Programme.
The initiative comes as a direct response to the Federal Government’s suspension of the 4% Free on Board (FOB) levy on imports, a measure which airlines had warned could have severely strained operations and threatened thousands of jobs.
Chairman of Air Peace, Dr Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, for heeding the pleas of industry stakeholders.
According to him, the government’s decision to halt the levy was a pragmatic step that has shielded the aviation sector from crippling cost burdens and safeguarded employment across multiple industries.
Dr Onyema emphasised that the suspension of the levy is not merely a relief for airlines but a decisive policy that strengthens economic resilience.
“This is a lifeline for the aviation industry. Just as the government has acted to protect jobs and support businesses, Air Peace is reciprocating by creating 1,000 fresh graduate jobs. If further supportive measures like this come from the Federal Government, I can assure you that thousands more jobs will be created in the aviation sector,” he said.
The 2025/2026 Graduate Trainee Programme, which officially opened for applications this week, aims to empower young Nigerians with practical skills, mentorship, and career development opportunities in aviation and allied industries.
By doing so, Air Peace is building a future-ready workforce while reducing the skills gap that has long hindered growth in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

By investing in youth employment, Air Peace said it is not only deepening its contribution to human capital development but also demonstrating how corporate entities can reinforce government policies that sustain businesses and protect livelihoods.
The initiative, it added, represents a shared vision for national progress anchored on cooperation between public and private stakeholders.
