Nigeria’s Air Peace gets royal approval as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, embarked on their journey from Abuja to Lagos aboard the airline’s flight on May 12, 2024.

In a statement, the airline said the decision of the royal couple was a notable display of solidarity with Nigerian airlines, underscoring the couple’s commitment to fostering ties with Nigeria and supporting local enterprises.

Accompanied by their retinue, the royal pair boarded an Air Peace charter flight, opting for one of the airline’s state-of-the-art Embraer 195-E2 aircraft for their transit to Lagos, following their arrival in the country’s capital Abuja the previous day.

Upon touching down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos around 09:00 hrs, the Duke and Duchess were greeted with pomp and ceremony.

Leading the reception committee were distinguished military officials, along with Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, and other prominent government figures.

A vibrant display of Nigerian culture awaited them, as a dance troupe showcased traditional performances, adding an air of festivity to the occasion.

The purpose of their visit to Lagos included a series of engagements, reflecting their interest in various aspects of Nigerian society and culture.

Following their commitments in Lagos, the royal couple is scheduled to return to Abuja, once again opting for Air Peace as their mode of travel.

This visit to Lagos marked the continuation of the Duke and Duchess’s private three-day tour of the West African nation (Nigeria), which commenced on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, landed in Nigeria on Friday to promote the Invictus Games, a project he started to aid in the recovery of injured and ill military personnel and veterans, including Nigerian troops involved in a 14-year battle against Boko Haram, Islamic extremists.

Throughout their stay, they have demonstrated a keen interest in engaging with local communities and fostering bilateral relations.
