Air Peace Refutes False Claims over N100 Million Land Payment for Anambra Airport MRO Facility

Air Peace has strongly dismissed media reports suggesting that its Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, made false claims regarding the payment of N100 million for land designated for the airline’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Anambra State.
In a statement issued by the airline’s management, Air Peace described the allegations made in a publication credited to the Traditional Ruler of Umueri Community, Igwe Emeka, as “unprovoked, baseless, and entirely misplaced.”
According to the airline, Dr. Onyema neither misrepresented facts nor made any false statement concerning the payment for the MRO facility land. The statement clarified that Air Peace’s dealings were exclusively with the Anambra State Government and not with any community, including Umueri.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Air Peace’s dealings on the MRO project were solely with the then Anambra State Government, not with any community or group,” the airline said. “Payment for the designated land was made directly to the Anambra State Government, and an official receipt for the sum of N100 million was issued on 26 August 2021 to confirm this transaction.”
The statement added that a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) covering the same parcel of land was duly issued to Air Peace on 14 September 2021, completing the legal process of allocation and ownership.
Emphasising Dr. Onyema’s integrity, Air Peace stated: “It must be clearly stated that Dr. Allen Onyema does not lie about anything. His personal and professional integrity is evident in his transparent record of service to Nigeria and his unwavering commitment to national development.”
The management described the contrary reports as a “deliberate attempt to mislead, defame, and malign” the Air Peace Chairman, calling the publications “false, malicious, defamatory, and entirely without merit.”
Dr. Onyema’s vision for the proposed Air Peace MRO facility, the airline explained, is to create employment opportunities, enhance Nigeria’s aviation capacity, and establish the nation as a continental hub for aircraft maintenance.
“Air Peace will continue to focus on driving positive change, empowering Nigerians, and promoting excellence in all areas of operation while disregarding attempts to distract from its mission with unfounded claims,” the statement concluded.
