Air Peace Limited, West and Central Africa’s largest airline, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing its sixth consecutive International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification.

This accomplishment further cements Air Peace’s position as a trailblazer in aviation safety and operational excellence across Africa.

The certification ceremony, held at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Lagos, was attended by top executives, industry stakeholders, and representatives from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The achievement highlights Air Peace’s commitment to maintaining the highest global safety standards, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in the industry.

Speaking at the event, Engineer Patrick Achurefe, Head of Quality at Air Peace Limited, expressed gratitude to the airline’s Chairman, Dr Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, for his unwavering support throughout the rigorous audit process.

“We are grateful to our chairman for believing in our capabilities and supporting the meticulous efforts required for this achievement,” he said.

Achurefe noted that Air Peace first earned its place on the IOSA registry in 2016, just two years after commencing operations.

Since then, the airline has consistently met the stringent criteria required for this global recognition, achieving subsequent certifications in the following years.

Dr Samson Fatokun, IATA’s Area Manager for West and Central Africa, commended Air Peace for its outstanding achievements.

“Air Peace’s presence on the IOSA registry is a testament to its unwavering dedication to safety, operational excellence, and professionalism. This milestone is not just a victory for the airline but also a source of pride for Nigeria. It underscores that local carriers can operate at the highest international safety levels,” Fatokun stated.

While receiving the certificate, Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Dr Allen Onyema, described the achievement as a significant milestone for the airline.

“This sixth IOSA certification affirms our commitment to global safety standards and provides our passengers with the confidence that their safety remains our top priority. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our management team and staff who have gone above and beyond to make this possible,” Onyema said.

Dr Onyema also lauded Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon Festus Keyamo, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for implementing policies that are transforming the aviation sector.

“Under Minister Keyamo’s leadership, the signing of the Cape Town Convention has opened new opportunities for the aviation industry, reducing operational costs and enhancing the capacity of local airlines. This progressive move will ultimately lead to more competitive airfares,” Onyema added.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Air Peace executives such as Captain Augustin Kamano, Director of Flight Operations; Captain Gerald Udaya, Head of Training; Captain Godfrey Ogbogu, Safety Manager; Dr Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications; Ikwo Iyanam, Cabin Services Manager; James Bello, Head of IT; and Davids Odeyemi, Head of Sales and Business Development.

This sixth IOSA certification is a testament to Air Peace’s deep-rooted safety culture, robust management systems, and commitment to continuous improvement.

The airline’s success serves as an inspiration to other African carriers, encouraging them to pursue similar excellence.

By consistently exceeding international safety standards, Air Peace reinforces its position as a leading voice in African aviation, a source of national pride, and a trusted airline for millions of passengers worldwide.
