All is set for LAAC’s 25th Conference, as participants indicate readiness

All is now set for the 25th edition of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) conference scheduled to hold on the 28th of July, 2021 at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

A statement issued by the Secretary of Conference Committee, Mr. Albinus Chiedu indicated that all arrangements had been concluded for a hitch-free event, which would have Sen. Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation as Chief Guest of Honour, while Chairman of the occasion would be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), West Link Airlines, Capt. Ibrahim Mshelia.

Other participants that will lead discussions at the event include the Chairman, Governing Council, Nigeria Aviation Safety Initiative (NASI), Captain Dung Pam; Chairman, Association of Ground Handlers (AGHAN), Mr. Olaniyi Adigun, and General Manager, Total Nigeria Plc., Mr. Rabiu Abdulmutalib would also deliver papers at the event. 

Also, Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) would deliver the keynote address on the theme.

The conference, which has the theme: ‘Nigeria Aviation Industry: Management, Policy, and Regulation,’ is expected to provide ample opportunity for notable aviation experts and professionals to speak on critical issues affecting the growth of the industry.

In the buildup to the conference, the Ministry of Aviation indicated interest to be part of the event, as well as all the aviation agencies – the NCAA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

Other agencies that will be fully involved in the conference and awards include the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N), the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).

Alongside the agencies, airline operators, ground handling companies, and other major stakeholders of the industry will also be part of the event.

With particular reference, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, the Managing Director of Med-View Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole; and the CEOs of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc, and Skyways Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, Mrs. Olatokunbo Fagbemi and Mr. Basil Agboarumi, respectively, would be among those that would be physically present.

Five organisations and one individual would be honoured with performance awards at the event; they include FAAN, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Peace, MMA2, and Engr. Akin Olateru, the Commissioner, AIB-N.

The 25th Conference and Awards 2021 is expected to be attended by over 250 aviation industry professionals; physically and virtually, cutting across the aviation agencies, security agencies, international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, travel trade sellers and buyers, and captains of the aviation industry in Nigeria.

Also, the committee said that all the Covid-19 protocols, as mandated by the NCAA and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), would be strictly adhered to.
