Anthony Joshua gets victory over Otto Wallin in Riyadh
In the headline bout of the “Day of Reckoning” card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua secured his third victory of 2023, claiming a TKO win over Otto Wallin.
This triumph followed earlier successes against Jermaine Franklin in April and Robert Helenius in August, where Joshua displayed his prowess with a seventh-round knockout.
Facing Wallin, known for his challenging southpaw stance, Joshua dominated the match, achieving a fifth-round technical knockout.
Wallin, who had previously suffered only one defeat against Tyson Fury in 2019, put up a commendable fight, challenging the lineal champ despite Fury’s eventual unanimous decision win.
With this latest triumph, Joshua’s record stands at an impressive 27 victories and three losses, including 24 knockout wins.
Prior to Joshua’s fight, Deontay Wilder faced former WBO heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker and suffered a unanimous decision loss.
Joey Garnache, Wallin’s coach, made the decision to stop the fight to prevent further punishment to his fighter.
Following the victory, Joshua conveyed a message to his former rival Andy Ruiz, declaring, “I’m back, I’m back,” marking a triumphant return for the two-time heavyweight champion.
