Aviacargo Conference Postponed to Ensure Safety Amid Prevailing Circumstances in Nigeria

The organisers of the 4th Aviacargo Conference, West Africa’s leading cargo conference, have announced the postponement of the event, which was initially slated for August 1st, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel Ikeja GRA, Lagos. 

In a statement, the organisers explained that, “Due to prevailing circumstances in the country, the conference has been rescheduled to August 22nd, 2024.”

The organisers further emphasised that the decision to postpone the event was made with the highest regard for the safety of its participants and international guests. 

“We prioritise the well-being of all attendees and do not wish for anyone to be caught in any unforeseen circumstances,” the statement read.

The 4th Aviacargo Conference promises to feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including notable industry leaders who will share their insights and experiences. Among the distinguished speakers are: Christophe Pennick, Managing Director of Asaba Airport, who will address “The Role of the Private Sector in the Development of Airports and Aviation in Nigeria: The Asaba Airport Story.”

George Uriesi, Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air, who will present on “Creating a Synergy Between Airport and Airline in Developing Air Cargo.”

Remi Jibodu, Acting Chief Operating Officer of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, who will share insights from his extensive experience in the aviation sector.

Dr. Daniel Mckorley, Executive Chairman of McDan Group, who will bring his wealth of knowledge to bear on various aspects of the industry.

Frank Ogunojemite, National President of Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), who will discuss “The Challenges of Export at Nigeria Airports.”

In addition to these industry leaders, other chief executives from the aviation, insurance, logistics, and agro-export sectors will offer invaluable perspectives on advancing Nigeria’s cargo sector. 

Representatives from key government agencies such as NAFDAC, NEPC, SON, Nigeria Customs Service, and Quarantine Services will also be present to share their expertise and experiences.

The Aviacargo Conference is deemed crucial for the growth of Nigeria’s cargo sector. By focusing on the development of air cargo infrastructure and logistics, the conference aims to enhance the efficiency and reach of exports, particularly in the agro-export sector, thereby contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
