Aviation Industry Mourns Mrs. Sola Adekola, Tributes Pour in from SAHCO, Bi-Courtney, NAAPE
The aviation industry in Nigeria is mourning the loss of Mrs. Sola Adekola, the respected Aviation Correspondent for Nigerian Tribune, whose passing has drawn heartfelt condolences from major stakeholders, including Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE).
In separate condolence letters addressed to Mr. Idris Suleiman, Chairman of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), the organisations expressed their grief and paid tribute to Mrs. Adekola’s outstanding contributions to aviation journalism.
In a letter dated 5th March 2025, SAHCO described Mrs. Adekola as a “kind, passionate, professional, and humane presence” whose impact on aviation reporting would be deeply missed.
Signed by Adetola Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at SAHCO, the letter extended the company’s “heartfelt condolences to the LAAC family” and expressed hope that the bereaved would “find comfort in the grace and solace of the Almighty God.”
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited also sent a condolence message in the same breath, acknowledging Mrs. Adekola’s “remarkable contributions to the field of aviation journalism.”
The letter, signed by Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications, and Remi Jibodu, Acting Chief Operating Officer, highlighted her dedication to the LAAC and the broader aviation community.
“Her dedication to your association was evident to all,” the letter read, as Bi-Courtney extended sympathies to her family, friends, and professional colleagues.
The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) joined in the mourning with a letter of commiseration signed by the General Secretary, Olayinka Olu. Abioye.
The union expressed “profound shock” at Mrs. Adekola’s passing, describing her as a “dynamic, easy-going, hardworking person, whose mien is unequalled.”
NAAPE acknowledged her professionalism and influence in the aviation sector, praying for “the repose of her beautiful soul” and for comfort for her family and colleagues.
The outpouring of tributes reflects Mrs. Adekola’s significant impact on aviation journalism and the deep respect she commanded within the industry.
As she will be laid to rest on Wednesday – March 19, 2025 – at the Memorial Garden of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), her legacy as a trailblazing journalist and a compassionate professional will undoubtedly endure in the hearts of those she touched.
