Aviation Minister sets up committee to ramp up revenue profile of FAAN
Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo has set up a committee to explore the revenue potential at the nation’s airports.
The Minister took this decision after a facility tour of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where he pointed out areas and avenues that could be harnessed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to boost its revenue profile.
Having received briefing from the FAAN Management, the Minister directed that a committee be set up to explore the revenue potential at the local wing of the Lagos airport and other airports in the country.
The committee will be chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr Emmanuel Meribole.
The areas to explore include: advertisements at the airports, ticketing system at the FAAN facilities, waivers on payment of FAAN services, among others.
The committee has been given four weeks to come up with a comprehensive report and proffer solutions.
