Nigeria: BASL to revolutionise regional flights, transform passenger experience at MMA2
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport terminal two in Lagos, has unveiled plans to revolutionise regional flight operations at the terminal.
BASL’s Head of Aeronautical Services, Mr. Remi Jibodu, emphasised the significant benefits this shift holds for airlines and travellers during an interactive session with the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents in Lagos.
Jibodu said allowing regional flights at the MMA2 would not only cut down costs for airlines but also streamline passenger and airline operations.
With 10 airlines already operating from the terminal and showing enthusiasm for its innovative facilities, BASL’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, expressed confidence that this initiative would attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), aligning with the company’s commitment to elevating customer experience in 2024.
With the upgrade of the Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS), BASL has positioned MMA2 as the strategic hub for domestic and regional flight service, focusing on seamless travel operations and potential reductions in overhead costs.
Addressing concerns about flight delays, Jibodu disclosed BASL’s proactive measures, including the introduction of a slot system to minimise congestion and enhance flight punctuality at the MMA2 terminal.
According to him, the airport slot system promises to optimise passenger service by assigning pre-assigned take-off and landing slots, eliminating chaos.
Jibodu revealed that BASL is on the verge of completing its apron expansion, allowing for more airlines and accommodating the growing demand for domestic and regional flights.
No doubt, this strategic expansion positions MMA2 as a pivotal player in Nigeria’s aviation growth in terms of infrastructure, safety compliance and quality service delivery.
