Breaking: Helicopter crashes into the roof of a building in Midtown Manhattan
A helicopter has, reportedly, crashed into a building in Manhattan, police and FDNY officials have confirmed.
A Police source said the incident happened at 787 Seventh Ave.
NYPD tweeted out a warning to avoid the area of 51st and 7th Avenues, saying a police investigation was ongoing.
At least one building was evacuated, CBS New York reported.
It is unclear what kind of helicopter was involved or if anyone was injured.
TW gathered that emergency responders are currently carrying out rescue operations on the scene.
An onlooker by the name Lance Koonce Tweeted: “787 7th ave, #midtown NYC. We’re 1 block south. 20 mins ago there was a loud sound like a too-low #helicopter & I looked up and saw sheet of flame on roof and then smoke. News reports saying helicopter/small plane crash onto roof which would be consistent with what I heard/saw.”
