Breaking: Tinubu Approves New Minimum Wage of N70,000 for Nigerian Workers
Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000.
This decision was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a high-level meeting between the government and organised labour leaders earlier today.
The meeting, held to address the pressing issue of wage adjustments, included prominent figures such as the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo.
According to Vanguard, the labour leaders arrived at the meeting venue around 2:15 p.m., travelling in a white 32-seater Coaster bus, and proceeded directly to the first-floor office of the President.
The wage increase comes after extensive discussions and negotiations aimed at improving the standard of living for Nigerian workers.
The new minimum wage is expected to provide much-needed relief to workers across various sectors, enhancing their purchasing power and overall economic stability.
This move is seen as a response to the long-standing demands of labour unions for better compensation in the face of rising living costs and economic challenges.
