British High Commission resumes Visa processing in Nigeria
The British High Commission in Nigeria has said it will resume visa processing for intending travellers to the UK as soon as airlines resume international flight operations.
In a statement issued Thursday, July 9, 2020, the commission said it was aware that many Nigerians are eager to travel to the UK after the pandemic, and it would start receiving visa applications when it is safe to allow visitors to the UK.
“We know there are many Nigerian nationals hoping to be able to travel to the UK when flights resume, both for employment and to see family members.
UKVI is working closely with TSL contact, our commercial partner, to reopen visa application centres that were suspended due to COVID-19. UK visa application centres are reopening in a phased manner globally when it is safe to do so and when we can operate an effective service.
TSL contact is putting appropriate measures in place and working hard to reopen in Nigeria. We will share details of when VACs will reopen soon,” the Commission said.
Both local and international travel has been restricted to essential demands as many countries across the globe shut borders in March this year owing to the spread of the coronavirus.
But there appears a ray of hope for intending travellers as local flight operations have resumed in Nigeria and the Uk, giving a fillip to their expectation for international travel to begin sooner or later.
