CGC Adeniyi Emphasises Anti-Smuggling Measures During Port Harcourt Visit
The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, paid a stopover visit to the Zonal Headquarters and Area 1 Command in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 5 September 2024.
The visit was part of his official tour of Area 2 Command, Onne, where he addressed critical issues confronting the region.
During his engagement with officers at the Zonal HQ, CGC Adeniyi focused on several pressing concerns, including the persistent problem of smuggling and the frequent seizures of illicit drugs within the zone.
He emphasised the need for intensified efforts in curbing these activities, particularly through enhanced 100% physical examination of goods entering the area.
In addition to combating smuggling, the Comptroller General also highlighted the importance of maintaining strict standards of personnel conduct, urging officers to uphold the highest levels of integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
CGC Adeniyi was warmly received by the Zonal Coordinator, Comptrollers, and key stakeholders in Port Harcourt, reflecting the continued commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to strengthening the nation’s borders and ensuring security in the region.
The visit underscores the CGC’s determination to tackle illegal activities and improve operational efficiency within the zone.
