CGC Adeniyi Hails Ogun II Customs Command for 40% Revenue Surge, Lauds Governor Abiodun’s Industrial Drive

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has applauded the Ogun II Area Command for recording an impressive 40 per cent increase in revenue generation, describing it as a testament to the Command’s strategic efficiency and commitment to duty.
Speaking during a working visit to the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta on Wednesday, CG Adeniyi praised the leadership of Comptroller Bisi Alade and his team for their outstanding performance.
He also commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his visionary leadership in industrial development, positioning the state as a key player in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
According to Comptroller Alade, the Command raked in a total of N15.191 billion in revenue between January and April 2025 – an impressive leap from the N9.165 billion generated during the same period in 2024.

The 40 per cent increase is attributed to the Command’s oversight of strategic infrastructure, including three Free Trade Zones, 67 excise factories, and one bonded terminal.
In his welcome address, Alade described the CGC’s visit as a morale booster for officers and men of the Command.
“Your presence here today, sir, is not only encouraging but also a strong indication of your commitment to every arm of the Service. It has uplifted the spirit of our officers and reinforced our resolve to deliver on the Service’s mandate with renewed vigour,” he said.
While showcasing the Command’s achievements, Alade also highlighted pressing operational challenges hindering optimal performance.
These include the need for more operational vehicles, medical laboratory equipment for the Command’s clinic, renovation of two 30-man quarters for junior officers, improved borehole water facilities, and the installation of a solar energy system to power the office complex.
In his response, CGC Adeniyi expressed satisfaction with the Command’s efforts and pledged that the concerns raised would be given due consideration by the Service Headquarters.
“Your performance is commendable, and we will work towards addressing the challenges you’ve outlined. However, I urge all officers to focus on continuous professional development. Competence, knowledge, and dedication remain key to achieving the Customs mandate,” he said.
The Comptroller-General also used the occasion to laud Governor Abiodun’s industrial foresight, especially in maximising Ogun State’s strategic location bordering the Republic of Benin.
“Ogun State is a strategic location in Nigeria, and the Governor is clearly repositioning the state for industrial growth. We, at the Nigeria Customs Service, remain a committed partner in supporting that vision,” he noted.
Adeniyi encouraged Comptroller Alade and his team to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and deepen cooperation with the Ogun State Government to drive shared developmental goals.
The visit underscores the NCS’s broader commitment to enhancing service delivery, increasing national revenue, and bolstering partnerships that contribute to economic prosperity.
