CITA Aviation boss Ogungbangbe to Chair 28th LAAC Annual Conference
The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CITA Aviation Fuelling Company Limited, Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, has been announced as the Chairman for the 28th Annual Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
The conference is set to take place on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Providence Hotel in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
A brief profile captured in a statement signed by the secretary of the organising committee for the conference, Mr Albinus Chiedu, revealed that Dr. Ogungbangbe, an esteemed international energy strategist, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Before founding CITA Aviation, he served as the General Manager for Aviation Business at MRS Oil and Gas. He was subsequently seconded to Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc as the Aviation Marketing Manager for West and Central Africa.
His notable career also includes being a focal point for aviation fuel-related work for MRS Group in Lagos, co-founding Asharam Aviation, and holding significant positions at Sahara Group.
Certified as a jet fuel airfield inspector by IATA, Dr. Ogungbangbe has undergone international training on jet fuel from reputable institutions such as EI, ASTM, API, and IATA.
He has led numerous high-profile industry projects and served as a member of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s 6-Man Committee on Aviation Fuel Pricing and Product Availability.
The conference, themed “Aviation Survivability Amidst a Challenging Macro-Economic Environment,” will address critical issues affecting Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The country’s struggling economy has exacerbated challenges such as poor access to foreign exchange, weakening currency, high fuel and maintenance costs, inadequate airport infrastructure, regulatory constraints, growing manpower demands, and the need for technological upgrades and improved passenger comfort.
In addition to Dr. Ogungbangbe’s chairmanship, the conference will feature notable speakers including Capt. Samuel Caulcrick, former Rector of the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, and Dr. Alex Nwuba, Second Vice President of the Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI).
Dr. Richard Aisuebeogun, former Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), will moderate the panel session.
The LAAC Annual Conference is renowned for its significant impact on Nigeria’s aviation sector, promoting policy, management, and operational discussions that lead to substantial changes in the industry.
This year’s event offers another opportunity for aviation and allied business organisations to showcase their products and services through sponsorship.
