Comptroller Benedict Oramalugo Assumes Duty as New Customs Area Controller of Seme Command
…Promises to Uphold Comptroller General’s Policy Thrust for Effective Border Management
The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has welcomed its newly appointed Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Benedict Oramalugo, PhD.
The appointment follows the retirement of his predecessor, marking a transition in leadership at the critical border command.
Comptroller Oramalugo, an experienced and highly decorated officer, officially assumed duty today at the ECOWAS complex of the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post (JBP).
The brief but symbolic handing-over ceremony was attended by journalists and presided over by Deputy Comptroller Enforcement, DC Istifanus D. Musa, who had been overseeing the Command in an acting capacity.
In his remarks, DC Musa assured the new Area Controller of the unwavering support and dedication of officers within the Command.
He expressed confidence in Oramalugo’s leadership, noting that his experience and commitment to service excellence would further strengthen the Command’s operations.
Delivering his inaugural address, Comptroller Oramalugo expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the officers and pledged to consolidate on the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
He assured officers, stakeholders, and the border community of his readiness to enhance trade facilitation and enforce effective border security in line with the Service’s mandate.
The newly appointed Controller also emphasised his open-door policy, encouraging officers to enhance their professional capacities to drive the Command towards greater achievements.
He underscored the importance of collaboration in achieving national revenue targets and strengthening anti-smuggling efforts.
Comptroller Oramalugo expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs and his management team for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Seme Area Command.
Prior to this appointment, he served as the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, where he made remarkable contributions to revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations.
His outstanding performance earned him multiple accolades at the Comptroller General’s Awards in December 2024, including Strategic Community Engagement for the Year, Service Excellence Performance, and Outstanding Controller of the Year 2024.
