Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja Strengthens Interagency Collaboration in Oyo State

The Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening interagency collaboration in Oyo State.
On Tuesday, 25 March 2025, Comptroller Adelaja, accompanied by senior officers of the Command, paid a courtesy visit to key sister agencies, including the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
During his visit to the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Immigration Service, Comptroller Adelaja expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to engage with fellow security agencies.
He acknowledged the vital roles they play in safeguarding the nation’s borders, protecting lives, and maintaining internal security.
He emphasised that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) remains committed to working closely with other security agencies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
In his address, Comptroller Adelaja highlighted the core functions of the Nigeria Customs Service, which include revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling.
He underscored the importance of interagency collaboration in achieving these goals and called for increased cooperation in joint training programmes, coordinated border operations, and enhanced intelligence sharing, noting that such measures would strengthen national security and promote economic stability.
At NAFDAC, Comptroller Adelaja commended the agency for its unwavering efforts in safeguarding public health and ensuring the safety of pharmaceutical products, food items, and other essential goods.
He praised NAFDAC’s dedication to preventing the circulation of unsafe products and reaffirmed the Customs Service’s support for regulatory enforcement initiatives.
Adelaja reiterated the NCS’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with all relevant agencies to ensure seamless collaboration for the collective good of the nation.
The General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army; the Controller of the Nigeria Immigration Service; and the Zonal Director of NAFDAC all expressed their support for enhanced interagency cooperation.
They assured Comptroller Adelaja of their readiness to work closely with the Nigeria Customs Service to bolster national security and promote economic growth.
