Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu Assumes Command of Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’, Ikeja

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service has welcomed a new helmsman as Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu officially assumed leadership as the 28th Comptroller of the Unit.
According to a statement signed by Hussaini Abdullahi, Chief Superintendent of Customs and Public Relations Officer of the Unit, the brief handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, at the Unit’s conference hall in Ikeja, Lagos.
Addressing officers and men of the Unit during the ceremony, Comptroller Shuaibu pledged to deploy his extensive professional experience to steer the Unit towards greater operational success.
He emphasised the need for dedication, teamwork, and strict adherence to the Nigeria Customs Service’s guiding principles, popularly known as the 7 Golden Rules or “7Cs”.
“I am committed to building on the successes of this great Unit. I humbly solicit your maximum cooperation and unwavering support as we work together to fulfil the mandates of the Service,” Shuaibu stated.
The newly appointed Comptroller also expressed profound gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to lead the strategic enforcement arm of the Service.
He expressed confidence in the potential of the Unit to excel further in its mission of curbing smuggling and enhancing revenue recovery efforts.
Comptroller Shuaibu is widely regarded as a seasoned officer with a distinguished career marked by service in various customs formations across the country. His leadership style is expected to bring a renewed vigour to the operations of the Unit.
Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing Comptroller, Kolapo Oladeji, urged his successor to uphold the Unit’s standard of excellence and sustain the momentum of operational achievements.
He expressed confidence in Comptroller Shuaibu’s capability to enhance the Unit’s effectiveness.
Oladeji also extended appreciation to the Comptroller-General and the Customs management team for the opportunity to serve, while thanking the officers and men of the Unit for their unwavering support during his tenure.
The change of leadership marks a significant step in the ongoing strategic realignments within the NCS aimed at boosting operational efficiency and combating economic sabotage across the country.
