In a gesture aimed at fostering unity and mutual understanding within the Tincan Island Port Command, the Customs Area Controller, Frank Onyeka, hosted a special Ramadan Dinner at the Command’s headquarters on Wednesday.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including members of the Armed Forces, Customs Licensed Agents, Terminal Operators, and Shipping Line Operators, reflecting a collective commitment to harmonious coexistence.

In his welcome address, Comptroller Onyeka underscored the significance of Ramadan as a period for reflection, self-discipline, and compassion.

He emphasised that the dinner was not merely about providing food but about strengthening relationships and encouraging open dialogue among stakeholders of different faiths.

“This dinner is a way to show solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters during this sacred month. It’s an opportunity to celebrate their devotion to faith while also recognising the shared values of community, kindness, and empathy,” Onyeka stated.

He reiterated the importance of fostering a culture of understanding and respect within the port community, noting that mutual respect and cooperation are essential for the smooth functioning of the Command.

The Chief Imam of Tincan Island Mosque, Imam Sadiq Mohammed, expressed his gratitude to Comptroller Onyeka for organising the dinner. He described the event as a thoughtful initiative to bridge the gap between religious communities at the port.

“This gesture strengthens the bond between us and fosters a deeper sense of unity. I pray for continued success and peace within the Command,” Imam Mohammed remarked.

Alhaji Akeem Ayobiojo, Chairman of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics (APFFLON), Tincan Island Command Chapter, also commended Comptroller Onyeka’s efforts in promoting peace and understanding.

“This dinner is a testament to the spirit of unity and mutual respect we strive to cultivate here at Tincan Island Port. Through this event, Comptroller Onyeka has created an environment where our differences are celebrated, and our shared humanity is recognised,” he noted.

The Ramadan Dinner was well attended by prominent figures from various sectors, reinforcing Comptroller Onyeka’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and cooperation.

The event concluded with prayers for continued success and stability within the Tincan Island Port community.
