Customs Begins Physical Screening, Documentation for Successful Recruitment Candidates
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the commencement of physical screening and documentation for successful candidates shortlisted for recruitment into the Service.
The exercise will be held at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, as part of the next phase of the recruitment process.
The Service, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, said all shortlisted candidates are required to appear in person for the screening and documentation exercise on the dates allocated to their respective states and cadres.
According to the NCS, attendance at the exercise is compulsory, warning that candidates who fail to report on their scheduled dates risk being disqualified from the recruitment process.
The Service said the physical screening is intended to verify candidates’ documents and establish their eligibility before they proceed to subsequent stages of the recruitment exercise.
Candidates have been directed to come with both the original and photocopies of several documents, including their National Identification Number (NIN), original birth certificate or declaration of age, and educational certificates.
The educational documents required include O’Level certificates, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), university degrees and other applicable qualifications, depending on the cadre for which the candidate was shortlisted.
Candidates are also required to present a Certificate of State of Origin, two recent passport photographs and a completed Guarantor’s Form.
Those to whom it applies must also present their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as part of the documentation requirements.
For the physical aspect of the exercise, the NCS directed candidates to appear in a white T-shirt, shorts and canvas shoes.
The Service stressed that candidates should report only on the date specifically assigned to their respective states and cadres, indicating that adherence to the schedule would be an important part of the exercise.
The Customs authorities further said candidates who successfully complete the physical screening and documentation would receive additional instructions on the subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
The recruitment exercise is being conducted under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team.
The NCS assured candidates and the general public that the recruitment process would be transparent, fair and merit-based.
It also warned candidates to be cautious of unofficial information and urged them to rely exclusively on official NCS communication channels for updates concerning the screening exercise and other stages of the recruitment process.
The announcement comes as the Service moves to physically verify successful applicants following the earlier stages of its recruitment exercise, with the latest phase expected to determine which candidates proceed further towards eventual enlistment into the NCS.
The NCS urged all shortlisted candidates to take the documentation requirements seriously and ensure that their documents are complete and presented as required to avoid setbacks or possible disqualification.
