The Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of Customs, Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima, Zonal Coordinator of Zone B, in a demonstration of commitment to regional security and collaboration, embarked on an official visit to the Kebbi Area Command on Friday, 8th November 2024.
This visit forms part of his ongoing tour across the Zone B axis, aimed at strengthening ties with key stakeholders and promoting adherence to Customs mandates.
Addressing the officers and personnel in a formal parade, ACG Dangaladima commended the Customs Area Controller and the Kebbi Command for their diligent efforts in upholding the core Customs mandate.
He acknowledged their significant contributions to the Command’s progress, particularly in advancing national security goals.
“The Customs leadership believes in you,” he remarked, urging the officers to remain committed to addressing the security challenges in Kebbi State.
ACG Dangaladima highlighted that a more secure Kebbi could only be achieved by bolstering collaboration between Customs, sister agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
He stressed the importance of fostering a united approach to security, recognising the role that these groups play in ensuring the stability of cross-border trade and community safety.
The visit included a closed-door meeting with stakeholders, during which Dangaladima appealed to traders to remain compliant with Customs regulations, particularly regarding cross-border activities.
He encouraged the stakeholders to abide by the Customs’ extant laws to foster smoother operations and minimise contraventions in trade practices.
In line with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, which promotes work-life balance and capacity building, the ACG inaugurated a new five-a-side football pitch and an E-library/Learning Centre at the Command.
Both facilities were sponsored by stakeholders, reflecting the productive relationships established with the Command.
According to a statement signed by Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu, Superintendent of Customs and Public Relations Officer, Kebbi Area Command, these new additions aim to enhance the well-being and professional growth of Customs personnel, further underscoring the Command’s commitment to a holistic approach to workforce development.
ACG Dangaladima concluded his visit by paying homage to the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, CFR, mni, to seek his blessings and guidance, underscoring the importance of traditional leadership in fostering community support and security.
