Dana Air disengages staff amid ongoing audit, assures commitment to resolving situation

Dana Air has announced the temporary disengagement of some of its staff members until the ongoing audit of its operations by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) concludes. 

The airline, in a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Kingsley Ezenwa, said this decision aims to ensure efficient resource management and facilitate a thorough review of operational procedures during the audit period.

Recall that the Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo ordered that the airline be suspended after one of its aircraft suffered runway excursion last month – April 23, 2024 – at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

Expressing gratitude for the dedication of its staff during this period of uncertainty, Dana Air acknowledged the challenges they have faced and reassured them of efforts to resolve the situation promptly.

The management emphasised its commitment to cooperating fully with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all standards and regulations, underscoring the collaborative nature of the ongoing audit.

Amidst these developments, the airline said it has initiated discussions with lessors and is actively engaging stakeholders to provide updates on progress made. 

The airline urged for calm and understanding from its staff and stakeholders, assuring them of diligent efforts to address concerns and prepare a restart plan for safe and efficient operations.

Despite the challenges, Dana Air expressed confidence in overcoming them with continued support from its staff and stakeholders, projecting a stronger future ahead.

The statement: “Dana Air, one of Nigeria’s leading airlines, wishes to provide an update on the ongoing operational audit initiated by the regulatory authorities. 

“The audit, currently underway, is a collaborative effort between Dana Air and the authorities to ensure compliance with all necessary standards and regulations. 

“Dana Air reaffirms its commitment to full cooperation with the authorities to facilitate a smooth and expedited resolution of the audit process.

“In light of the ongoing audit, Dana Air has made the decision to temporarily disengage some staff members pending the conclusion of the audit. This decision has been made to ensure efficient management of resources and to facilitate a thorough review of operational procedures. 

“The Management of Dana Air extends its sincere appreciation to all staff members for their resilience and dedication during this period of uncertainty. It recognizes the difficulties that staff have had to endure and assures them that every effort is being made to resolve the situation promptly. 

“Dana Air remains committed to providing updates and support to its staff throughout this process and While these challenges are being addressed, Dana Air has commenced talks with lessors and are currently engaging stakeholders on the progress made so far. 

“Dana Air therefore urges for calm and understanding from our very dedicated staff for their altruism and stakeholders. The Management is working diligently to address any concerns and is preparing a restart plan that will ensure the safe and efficient resumption of operations.
